30th Anniversary Year

It all began in 1993 with a grassroots effort by citizen activists wanting to protect Santa Clara Valley’s important natural resources. Since then, the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority has permanently protected almost 30,000 acres of natural and working lands and envisions a future with an even greater capacity to fulfill the agency's mission of caring for nature, supporting local agriculture, and connecting people to nature.

A MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

"The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority is proud to celebrate 30 years of caring for nature, so nature can care for us. It was 1993, when ordinary citizens, local elected leaders and the California State Legislature joined together to form a new special district and public land conservation agency in Santa Clara County whose mission would be to balance growth by creating a permanent Santa Clara Valley Greenbelt of protected natural and agricultural lands."
