Bay Area Older Adults Trailblazers Program

Bay Area Older Adults

About the Project

"I have been visually impaired since birth, so the tours give me knowledge of various parks that I would not normally go to. The audio description was done so well that it felt like being there. Although I am unable to see the video, I could hear the wildlife and imagine the plant life, birds, foxes and flowers that are so colorful. Thank you for making these extraordinary experiences available to me.”

Bay Area Older Adults Trailblazers is an environmental education program that increases access to open spaces for our most vulnerable older adults: visually impaired and blind and widowed. With funding from the Open Space Authority, Bay Area Older Adults worked with 11 community partners to provide 45 virtual and in-person programs that served more than 1,670 visually impaired persons and people with dementia and their caregivers.
