Community and Virtual Bioblitz Events

Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful

About the Project

"First time participants were excited about nature and what they saw. [One said] that we 'Offer guided activities with knowledgeable guides who provide fascinating information about the wildlife we encountered.' The feedback is tremendous."

Deb Kramer , Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful Executive Director

The Open Space Authority helped to fund Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful's BioBlitz events, which taught people about the diverse natural areas and wildlife along Coyote Creek and other South Bay parks and exposed people to the outdoors in a new way. Throughout the ten in-person BioBlitz events, naturalists led participants, some of who had spent little time in nature, to use iNaturalist, a mobile app, to document biodiversity. The four virtual BioBlitzes allowed people to learn about local nature in-depth from naturalists and participate remotely.
