Growing the Urban Forestry Education Center

Our City Forest

About the Project

Our City Forest’s Urban Forestry Education Center is an educational and outreach site at Martial Cottle County Park that hosts workshops, community events and volunteer workdays. With this funding from the Open Space Authority, Our City Forest is installing an environmentally friendly, ADA-compliant hardscape to replace the site’s gravel paths. This path will increase inclusivity and invite people of all abilities and ages to enter the area and participate in educational programming. The path will connect with the bike trail outside of the plot for a continuous path to the main shade structure.

Remaining grant funds will be used to fix broken irrigation and to purchase additional educational signage, including a land acknowledgment sign to recognize Indigenous cultures from the local area.
