La Placita Beautification Project

School of Arts and Culture at Mexican Heritage Plaza

About the Project

The Open Space Authority is helping to fund The School of Arts and Culture at Mexican Heritage Plaza (SOAC)’s Capital Improvement and Planning for its “La Placita Beautification Project,” which will bring green infrastructure to a newly acquired property in East San José. La Placita is across the street from the Mexican Heritage Plaza, where SOAC has operated since 2011. The Open Space Authority grant is providing an opportunity to bring natural elements to the East San José development in an underserved, densely populated heavily-trafficked area. SOAC is using the grant to plan, design and implement a safe, urban, public outdoor recreational space for the property, including an educational experience about the native habitat of East San José.
