About the Project

"[Students] will be outdoors, away from buildings, where they are free to think, listen and learn - what an amazing thing to have that possibility for high schoolers."

Matthew Dodder , Santa Clara Valley Bird Alliance Executive Director

Developed by Santa Clara Valley Bird Alliance (previously Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society) and funded by the Open Space Authority, the Oak Savanna Citizen Science Project is an education program that promotes citizen science, environmental awareness and an appreciation for the land and wildlife at the Laguna Seca portion of the North Coyote Valley Conservation Area. The Open Space Authority helped fund birdwatching field trips to Laguna Seca along with a classroom segment to area high schools. The program also included regular bird surveys and BioBlitzes at Laguna Seca that were open to the public.
