RideSV Enviro Series

Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition

About the Project

"Thanks to support from the Open Space Authority, we could experiment with themes, destinations, distances, promotion strategies, and participation from 10-70 attendees. SVBC is now better positioned than ever to host sustained, frequent group rides led by both staff and volunteers. The Open Space Authority's support was fundamental to our years-long development of a healthy and thriving group rides program."

Eleni Jacobson , SVBC Community Programs Coordinator

With funding from the Open Space Authority, Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition conducted a three-year bike ride series to deliver 12 rides working with partner organizations to enhance access to open space. The partner organizations included those focused on environmental issues as well as those working directly with low income populations. Through this, the program aimed to increase bicycling as a sustainable form of transportation, connect people to open space, and share knowledge among partner organizations to educate participants. Over 800 participants were impacted by the project, a conservative estimate based on number of "check-ins" on the days of the events.
