Rancho Cañada del Oro Regional Trail Planning
About the Project
Regional trail planning underway at Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve
The Open Space Authority is looking at the feasibility of expanding multi-use access and regional trail connections to the southern portion of Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve, including an area formerly known as Blair Ranch. This will include an analysis of existing ranch roads and the development of alternatives for providing future access to rolling grasslands, blue oak woodlands and mixed oak savannah in the preserve’s backcountry.
Project Goals
- Conduct analysis of existing roads to determine suitability for operational and recreational use to protect the environment and provide for a quality visitor experience.
- Expand regional trail connections at the preserve for multiple user groups, including hikers, bikers and equestrians.
- Limit impacts to biological resources by protecting sensitive habitats and reducing impacts to wildlife corridors.
- Protect and interpret cultural and historic resources.
